AND ROBOTIC SPINE SURGERY
Mr. Nikolaos Benardos studied medicine at the University of Crete. He specialised in spine surgery in the Spine and Scoliosis unit of KAT Hospital (the only unit in Greece labelled as dedicated to the spine and involved in the whole spectrum of Spinal injuries and disorders), in the Spine department of the Teaching Hospital of Cologne and the neurosurgery clinic of 401 GMHA (General Military Hospital of Athens).
He specialised in robotic spine surgery by following the training programme of Professor Alexandros Hatzipavlou in Israel and in minimally invasive fusions and endoscopic spine surgery in Las Vegas, San Diego and Phoenix in the U.S.A.
He was assistant consultant in the Scoliosis Unit of KAT Hospital, Head of the spine unit in the Athens Medical Group (Paleo Phaliro Clinic) and in charge of the Robotic Spine Surgery team in Hygeia Hospital in which he performed the first in Europe artificial intervertebral disc replacement with the method of extreme lateral approach.
